How Not To Make Slow Cooker Bean and Barley Soup

Doesn’t that look good? It was supposed to be our dinner tonight. Slow Cooker Bean and Barley Soup read the recipe at the Food Network. Add a bunch of stuff to the crockpot, heat for 8 hours, and BOOM! Soup, right?

Right?

WRONG!

Doesn’t that look awful? The result of my efforts was a thick bean and barley crust on the porcelain insert for the slow cooker. It took a butter knife and pan scraper to get everything unstuck and into the garbage disposal.

A wretched ending to a simple soup recipe, brought to us by the website from the television network that brought us:

I guess what I’m saying is that I probably should have known better.
